Himchari, Himchari National Park

Himchari, is really a hotspot for visitors coming to Cox'sbazar, be it local or foriegner. This location is situated 6KM from the Kalatali beach by the hill. The magnificent waterfall leading to the beach is a rare scene to enjoy. This place is ideal for a day picnic, sunbathing and relaxing.

Himchari National Park

Himchari National Park, on south of Cox’s Bazaar, is a unique place comprising the scenic beauty of green hills and blue waves of the vast sea. Once a passage for the Asian Elephants, it is now a place for tourists to escape Cox’s Bazaar town to see patches of ever-green forest. There is a waterfall there, which is best seen in the rainy season.
Location: About 5 Km. south of Cox’s Bazaar Town.
Area: 1,729 Hecters.

Brief History:
This park was established on 1980. Its compromise the reserve forest area of Bhangamura and Chainda Blocks under Cox’s Bazaar Forest Department. Evergreen and semi-ever-green tropical forests are found in this area.

Habitat, Flora and Fauna
Mammals – 55 species, Birds – 286 species, Amphibians – 13 species, Reptiles – 56 species, Plants – 117 species.
Getting There from Dhaka
The best way to get there is from Cox’s Bazaar. Biman (TK. 3675) and GMG (TK. 4670) Airlines have flights to Cox’s Bazaar four times weekly. AC and Non-AC bus service (AC: TK. 750-1000 and Non AC: TK. 400-600) are available from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazaar hourly. From there, you can rent a Taxi (TK. 200) or Chander Gari (TK. 150) from Kalatali Stand for 15 minutes ride to the entry. You can also rent a microbus from Cox’s Bazaar to go there (TK. 1100-1500 daily).
Places to Stay and Eat
The best place to stay is in Cox’s Bazaar, where there are many hotels and restaurant of varying quality.
